Three Programmes,
One Standard of Work
Each service at Escapement Lab is defined by scope, price, and timeline — confirmed before the work begins. Choose the programme that fits your piece.
Back to HomeHow Every Programme Is Run
Intake
Visible condition noted, programme confirmed, pricing and timeline agreed in writing before any work begins.
Bench Work
Service carried out within the agreed scope. Any additional finding triggers a call to the owner before continuing.
Testing
Seals pressure-tested, rate verified on timing machine, complication positions function-tested at every corrector.
Handover
Written condition note or stage photographs provided. Full explanation of what was done given at collection.
Quartz Overhaul and Seal Renewal
Battery replacement with circuit and coil testing, contact cleaning, movement holder inspection, and full renewal of case, crown and pusher seals. The case is pressure-tested after sealing and the watch runs on a timing machine for 48 hours before collection. Appropriate for daily-wear quartz pieces, dive-style cases, and chronographs where seal condition matters in coastal humidity. A short written note on seal condition and any wear worth monitoring at the next visit accompanies every handover.
Bracelet, Case and Crystal Refinishing
Hand refinishing of case and bracelet surfaces to restore the original brushed and polished contrast, removal of light scratching, straightening of bent links, and replacement of worn spring bars and pins. Sapphire or mineral crystals are replaced where chipping affects legibility. Bracelet sizing to the owner's wrist is included at handover. Before any material is removed, owners are shown a sample panel confirming the proposed depth of correction and finish — the scope is agreed at that point, not after.
Chronograph and Complication Restoration
An extended programme for column-wheel and cam-lever chronographs, calendar modules, and moon-phase mechanisms. Work includes disassembly of the complication plate, cleaning and reassembly with corrected end-shake, replacement of worn levers and springs from established parts channels, and full function testing across every pusher and corrector position. Scope runs five to nine weeks depending on component sourcing. Owners receive a staged progress record with photographs at disassembly, reassembly, and final testing — so the condition of the movement at each stage is visible, not just reported verbally.

What Every Job Has in Common
Pre-Work Agreement
Price, scope, and timeline confirmed before any bench work begins — on every programme without exception.
Instrument-Based Testing
Rate verification on a timing machine. Pressure testing on a dedicated gauge. Function testing across corrector positions on complication work — not by feel alone.
Transparent Timelines
Quoted durations are realistic and stated at intake: 2–4 days, 7–10 days, or 5–9 weeks. These are not aspirational — they are the actual windows the work occupies.
Verified Parts Sourcing
All replacement components — gaskets, crystals, springs, levers — sourced through established trade channels. Origins noted in the job record on request.
Owner Data Kept Private
Contact details and service records held for workshop purposes only — not shared or used beyond the scope of your service. See the Privacy Policy for detail.
No Hidden Additions
If something unexpected is found mid-job, we contact you before continuing. The job does not grow without your knowledge and agreement.
